Support a Child’s Education
This Diwali Rio Tinto India is proud to partner with Lakshya Jeevan Jagriti in a mission to uplift underserved communities in Delhi. Together, we are launching a campaign to raise funds for three critical causes, ensuring that the most vulnerable families and children receive the support they need to thrive.
Supporting education for a year
Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. This campaign aims to sponsor the education of 20 children for one year, covering school fees, uniforms, books, and stationery. By supporting their education, we are helping these children build a better future for themselves and their families. Your contribution can transform lives! Join us in this campaign to make a lasting impact on families and children in need. Every donation counts towards a brighter, healthier, and more empowered community.
Selection of students and Need Assessment
The process begins with a need assessment conducted in collaboration with the community leaders and social workers in slum areas such as Daya Basti, JJ Colony, Zakhira, and Prem Nagar. We identify families struggling to support their children’s education, focusing on children who have either dropped out of school or are at risk of doing so due to financial constraints. Priority is given to families with multiple children or those facing additional socio-economic challenges.
Selection process
The students are selected every year by working closely with local schools to facilitate their admission. The timeline is as follows:
- December to January: Documentation assistance is provided to help families with required documents for school admission, test preparation etc.
- February – Engagement with schools to ensure smooth enrollment.
- March – Prepare a child with all the necessary stuff required to be bought for the classes – course books, stationery and uniform.
- April – final admission and classes starts.
Budget Allocation Per Child (Per Year)
The program sponsors 20 children at an annual cost of INR 10000 per child the breakup of which is as follows:
Tuition Fees | Uniform and Shoes | Books & Stationery | Transport support |
INR 5000 | INR 1500 | INR 2500 | INR 1000 |
This budget ensures the children have everything they need to succeed, both academically and personally.
